The quality and consistency of interior and public spaces of facilities in industries such as hotels and lodging, retail malls and entertainment, assisted living and medical buildings, sports arenas and convention centers, etc are critical. Maintaining air quality, ventilation, temperature, and other metrics, while being as energy efficient as possible, present unique challenges to a building’s HVAC infrastructure. Solutions
HVAC and Cooling Systems (food refrigeration, ice, etc) can be treated in a variety of ways to be made more energy lean. Such systems can be treated electrically, and thermodynamically in many ways to reduce power consumption and enhance cooling capacity. Duty cycles will be shortened, and electricity expenditures to meet facility set points will fall significantly.
Compressors and condenser motor loads can benefit from power quality solutions and minimization of distribution losses.
Condenser coils can have their thermal heat exchange properties improved in a variety of ways – refrigerant lubricants, evaporative cooling of air surrounding coil panels, coil cleaning and coating to improve surface heat transfer. Pressures at key cycle points in the HVAC-R systems will be reduced also. Any and all combinations of the above will increase the life of equipment and minimize expensive maintenance and repair costs.
Lighting in such facilities must be effective and often decorative or ornamental to create the desired interior space and atmosphere. A wide variety of LED luminaires with different form factors, combined with smart and pragmatic Lighting controls and sensors being interconnected, can also yield substantial decreases in power usage.
